From 4 – 7 December 2017, the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR) is visiting Australia to meet with the Australian Human Rights Commission (AHRC), Australian human rights bodies and Australian Government representatives. This program is taking place ahead of next year’s historic ASEAN-Australia Special Summit, and looks to enhance regional engagement and deepen dialogue between Australian and AICHR bodies. The program also highlights Australia’s commitment to collaborate with ASEAN nations on sharing information, knowledge and insights about the systems and bodies that support human rights across the region.
The visit is facilitated by the AHRC and supported by DFAT and the ASEAN-Australia Special Summit Taskforce.
