ASEAN-Australia Special Summit 2018

The then Prime Minister, the Hon Malcolm Turnbull MP, the Leaders of the Member States of ASEAN and the Secretary-General of ASEAN wave from the stage at the 2018 ASEAN-Australia Special Summit

The inaugural Special Summit marked a new era in the ASEAN-Australian partnership. It built on our deep legacy of economic cooperation, political dialogue and strengthening our joint contribution to regional security and prosperity.

Following the 2018 Special Summit, Leaders' released:

the Leaders' Sydney Declaration, which set out a vision for the future of the ASEAN-Australia partnership and our shared commitment to elevate cooperation
the ASEAN-Australia Joint Declaration for Cooperation to Combat International Terrorism and a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance information sharing and coordinate responses.
